The saw wheel is divided into a strip-type upper saw wheel and a plate-type lower saw wheel; the lower saw wheel is the driving wheel, while the upper saw wheel is the driven wheel, and the weight of the upper saw wheel should be 2.5 to 5 times lighter than that of the lower saw wheel. The cutting speed of the band saw blade is usually 30 to 60 m/s. The lifting device of the upper saw wheel is used for loading and unloading and adjusting the tension of the band saw blade; the tilting device of the upper saw wheel is used to prevent the band saw blade from falling off the saw wheel during cutting. The tensioning device of the band saw blade can give elasticity to the upper saw wheel, ensuring the stability of the tension of the band saw blade during operation; the old type uses a spring or lever weight mechanism, while the new type uses pneumatic or hydraulic tensioning devices. The guiding device, commonly known as the saw card, is used to prevent the twisting or swinging of the band saw blade during cutting; the lower saw card is fixed at the lower end of the bed, while the upper saw card can be adjusted up and down along a vertical slide rail; the saw card structure can be roller-type or slider-type, with the slider type made of hardwood or wear-resistant plastic. Band saw machines are widely used in the wood industry, with various models. According to their processing purposes, they can be divided into: large band saws, re-sawing band saw machines, and fine woodworking band saw machines; according to the placement orientation of the saw wheels, they can be vertical, horizontal, or inclined, with vertical ones further divided into right and left types; according to the installation method of the band saw machine, they can be fixed or mobile; according to the number of combined tables, they can be ordinary band saw machines or multi-link band saw machines, etc. Generally, woodworking band saw machines are used in conjunction with woodworking cars.
